Sea Smoke Botella Pinot Noir 2006 (Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County, California)

The Sea Smoke Pinots are amongst the finest in the United States, in my opinion.  The Botella is their least expensive offering, but is just as enjoyable as the more expensive "Southing" and "Ten" bottlings.  A huge bouquet of red fruit and flowers, smokey wild cherry and mixed fruit on the palate, and a silky finish.  A beautiful wine.  The best way to get it is to sign up on the company's mailing list.

Just recently, finished of my last '04, having had another 6 months ago. My notes were consistent...the fruit had died and what was left was alcohol and woody/astringent tannins. These are great fun when they are young with huge fruit and cola flavors, but IMO, are not made to age. Drink up.

I am hoping the more expensive bottlings will stand the tests of time.

Interesting observations.  I haven't had any Seasmoke's with a few years of age, although I have a few that I have sat on.  I guess I'll drink up given your findings.
