Boy was I ever wrong last year  when I gave the initial vintage (2004) of Ghost Block a luke warm review.  I made the mistake of drinking the wine shortly after bottling and shipping.  I re-tried the wine a few months later and it was great.  Now I have the pleasure of tasting the 2005 vintage (in October 2008).  Both the 2004 and 2005 vintages of this newcomer are outstanding. The 2005  is not at it's peak yet, but was entirely enjoyable.  Those with a cellar should put this wine away for about 2 years.  Plenty of dark fruit, mocha, toasted oak and cedar with just enough earthiness to give extra complexity.  If the wine had easier availability, it would be wine of the month on our site.

4.25 stars.  Retail $55.00

Although the 2005 vintage is sold out, interested readers should sign up at the winery's web site to be notified of future vintages, at http://www.cultwinecentral.com
