Malescot St. Exupery shows up on WineBid and other auction sites for a fraction of what some of the more famous wines from Margaux go for.  It is a 3rd Growth Grand Cru wine which is generally about half cabernet sauvignon, and the remainder a blend of merlot, cab franc, and petit verdot.

I sampled the 1995 vintage of Malescot St. Exupery in late 2007.  The wine was holding up wonderfully.  Still holding most of it's dark purple color with a ring of ruby around the edge.  The wine is fairly fruit laden, not terribly smokey, with a hint of vanilla and rich earth.  Soft tannin, and a lush finish.

4 stars.
