Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, 2003

Year in and year out, the cabernets from Karl Lawrence are outstanding.  I also appreciate the fact that he produces a healthy number of the small 375 ml bottles, so that the wine can be enjoyed on nights where a whole bottle is too much.  Karl Lawrence makes some very expensive single vineyard wines, but I love the regular "entry-level" offering, which is essentially a blend of 3 of the most famous vineyards in Napa (Morisoli Vineyard, Beckstoffer Vineyard, and Herb Lamb Vineyard).  Each of those vineyards produces fruit that is usually reserved for $100 wines.  The Karl Lawrence Napa Cab goes for about $50.00  It brings the best of all three vineyards into one bottle.

      VC,
Had the chance to have the 2004 KL Beckstoffer Dr Crane vintage. All I can say is wow. We decanted it for about 30 to 45 mins and the wine started a little Stiff but then over the next 15 to 20 mins really mellowed out with tastes of chocolate, berry's, some might say even jammy. It was one of my top 10 wines that I've tasted.
