Chateau de Pampelonne "Cotes de Provence" Rose', 2006

Readers of this site know I have a weak spot for nice Rose's from the south of France.  The wines from the Bandol region are amongst the best, but have been going up in price.  The Chateau de Pampelonne is from the Cotes de Provence appelation, which as you can probably tell, is in Provence.  The region does not have the prestige of Bandol, and as such, prices tend to be lower.  The wine was excellent, and would pair nicely with the spicy herb laden food that one might associate with Provence.  Drink the wine with a salmon or shrimp pasta, for example.  The wine is light pink in color, is fairly light in the mouth, and has notes of strawberry, peach, and rose petal.  The wine was purchased for $17 at the Meritage Wine Market in Encinitas several months ago.  This is really a summer wine.
