Abreu qualifies as one of the prototypical California Cult Cabernets.  You'll never see it at retail, and it sells for much higher than it's list price when it shows up at auctions.  I have been trying to get on the mailing list for a long time, albeit with no success.  The bottles I have bought all came from WineBid.com.

The 1992 Abreu Madrona Ranch Cabernet shows why so many people clammor for this wine.  It was consumed over the Thanksgiving weekend of 2007.  With 15 years of age, the wine was still fresh with enough fruit on the palate to keep the wine vibrant.  It was starting to take on some cut leather and truffle aromas, but the fruit still was the predominant note.  The wine improved after about 30 minutes of aeration, and was a complete delight.  I do believe, however, that the wine has probably reached it's peak, and if one holds it much longer, you may miss it's optimum drinking window.

Time to drink up and enjoy this beautiful wine.
