This wonderful wine was provided for me to taste at a recent neighborhood get-together/wine tasting.  I had never heard of Dutch Henry Winery.  They are a small family owned winery in Calistoga.  They do farm from their own estate vineyards, and produce a cabernet, a cab-reserve, a merlot, a chardonnay, and a meritage called "Argos".  Grapes for the Argos meritage are sourced from a variety of vineyards throughout Napa.  The 2003 Argos is 48% cabernet sauvignon, 31% merlot, and 21% cabernet franc.

The wine is drinking beautifully for a young wine, no doubt due to the heavy blend of merlot in the composition.  The wine has a strong and sweet bouquet of crushed plum, blackberry, blueberry, and cedar.  The wine shows Bordeaux like elegance on the palate, and finishes long and smooth.

A very nice wine that merits 4 stars.  It can be purchased from the winery's website at www.dutchhenry.com for $44.
