I tasted this wine with a cold, so my review may not be entirely fair.  Nevertheless, for a 1997 Brunello, the wine should have had more concentration and punch.  The wine was well balanced with all the flavors one would expect in a Brunello, but the bouquet was shy and the flavors muted.  Did my cold play a role?  Perhaps, but the food I ate at the same time seemed to smell and taste normal to me.  I will try this wine again, as I had bought three bottles.  For an inexpensive Brunello, the wine remains a good deal.  If it is priced similar to other high scoring Brunellos, I would choose the latter.
