1998 was a difficult year for Napa Valley, according to many.  However, I have had several good 98's.  It's just a matter of choosing carefully.  Honig is an interesting winery.  They seem to be a perennial 89 point wine, according to Wine Spectator.  Essentially, the proverbial solid B student.  The wine is oftentimes available at the discount retailers at attractive prices.

The 1998 Honig Cab is a very very good cab.  It still is drinink at it's prime.  Anise, black currant, and cedar frame this sweet, easy to drink cab.  This is an easy drinking cab, and seems to drink more like a nice Bordeaux blend than a California cab from an off year.  Don't let the vintage scare you.  This is good juice.
