The 2005 Eaglepoint Ranch Syrah represents the first vintage released by Stefania, a husband and wife winemaking duo.  I am encouraged by this initial offering.

All in all, a very lovely wine. Dark purple at the core, ruby on the edges. An easily released bouquet of blackberry, cedar, and tapenade. Fruit forward on the palate, and soft tannin, much softer than one would expect in a 2005 California Syrah. A bright finish, lingering, and without the tart acidity that clouds many young California Syrahs. A top notch effort. Very well done.

3.75 stars.  Retail price $35.00.  Available by mailing list only, as far as I know, at Stefaniawine.com
