Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 1998

I am ordinarily a fan of Banfi's Brunellos, but I found the 1998 to be a little weak on the nose.  The 1998 vintage was a good but not great year for most Brunello producers.

The wine had nice color, but was a little soft on the nose, and a little diluted on the palate.  The wine finished smooth, and was quite agreeable, but not as good as the 97 or the 99.  If you can get a good deal on this wine, it's worth a shot, but if you are paying full retail, I would look for a better year, or try the Frescobaldi Brunello from 1998 which sells for about the same price, but drinks much better.
