This entry was posted on 2/25/2007 8:52 PM and is filed under California Cabernets, uncommon wines, good value wines, California Sangiovese.

Hook and Ladder is a Sonoma County winery owned by Cecil DeLoach, founder of DeLoach winery.  The DeLoach's sold their interest in DeLoach winery several years ago, and now run Hook and Ladder (Cecil used to be a fire fighter).

The 2003 "Tillerman" is a blend of 57% cabernet sauvignon, 27% cabernet franc, and 16% sangiovese.  This was a tasty wine, although it lacked the focus and concentration to make it an upper echelon wine.  A great mid-week wine, and an almost perfect wine to pair with pizza and casual pastas.
