O.K. Here is a little secret for everyone. If you want to get a great cab, look for the 2001 and 2002 Hobbs Stagecoach cabernets. 2003 may be better, but they doubled the price, and I do not think the 2003 is twice as good/
Paul Hobbs makes some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in California, if not the world. The folks at Hobbs have gone overboard with a million different single vineyard bottlings of just about every varietal these days, but their cabernets still kick it good in just about every vintage. They have never been cheap, but if your budget allows, the standard Hobbs Napa for about 65 bucks and the Stagecoach vineyard for about the same were always tremendous wines. TheStagecoach vineyard cab, which started a few years ago always sold for about the same price as the regular Napa cab. 2002 was the last year that this was the case. Sadly, in 2003, they jacked up the price to an unaffordable $175 dollars. Why the sudden increase? Who knows; Just market demand I suppose. I will not buy at those prices, nor should you. Get the 2001 or 2002 which are just as good, and sell for about 65 dollars if you do an on-line search. Nearly perfect in all regards. That's all I will say.
