Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Consumers looking for wines with snob appeal continue to spend upwards of $50 for the latest boutique Napa cab, while the value oriented wine lover gets just as good a wine from Robert Mondavi for about 20 bucks or less.

I had the 1997 Napa Cab from Mondavi in 2006.  Still a great nose, dark color, and plenty of good black fruit smacking all over the palate.

Nudging very close to 4 star quality.

Those looking to get a more modern Monavi to put in their cellars should look at either the 2001, 2002, or 2003, all of which look like they have the stuffing to go for a decade or more.
