Fisher is one of my favorite California cabernet producers.  They wines tend to be pricey but outstanding.  The "Coach Insignia" is their least expensive cabernet.  They also produce single vineyard cabernets from Lamb Vineyard and Wedding Vineyard.  The latter is apparently named as such because this is where Fred and Juelle Fisher were married in 1975.

I tried the 1995 Fisher Wedding Vineyard cabernet in December 2006.  Eleven years post-vintage and the wine was drinking beautifully.  Still holding plenty of dark inky color and no signs yet of brick/amber.  Black currant and anise with a little leather dominate the nose, with a little briary spicy note playing in the background, although that component faded off the bouqet as the wine opened up.  Plenty of fruit still on the palate, the tannins are soft but still noticeable, and the wine boasts an impressive finish.

An outstanding wine.

4.25 stars.
