Katnook is not a name familiar to most Americans, and that is unfortunate, because they make great wines.  Although most of the attention paid to this winery is centered around their lovely Shiraz based wines, they also produce world class cabernet.  Katnook's 1998 Coonawarra Caberent is an ultra-ripe thick, heavily bouqueted wine.  It is in perfect balance, and seems to be at the peak of it's maturity.  Enough tannin is hidden underneath the fruit that I am confident that the wine can tolerate another decade in the cellar if you so choose.
