After dumping a whole bottle of 1989 Chateau Pavie Maquin down the drain due to putrid cork contamination, I opened this 1989 Prunotto Barbaresco from Prunotto's holdings in the Montestefano Vineyard.  The wine was beautiful, and aged effortlessly.  Slighly brick colored on the edges, and garnet in the middle.  A bouquet of worn saddle leather, tar, wild cherry and light Italian spices.  Baked cherries predominates on the palate, and the wine has a soft lingering finish.  An outstanding wine that is at it's peak of maturity.
