This extraordinarily elegant Australian Shiraz has developed grace and beauty in it's 10th year, yet still remains a powerhouse.  Meshach is the name given to the finest Shiraz wine made by the venerable Grant Burge Winery in Australia's Barossa Valley.  Retial is about $90 or more (Australian) for the new releases, but since the wine does not receive much attention from the American wine press, when found at auction, the nicely aged wines usually sell for about $50-60, a real bargain.

The 1996 Grant Burge Meshach Shiraz demontrates a spicy cherry nose, gobs of blackberry fruit on the palate, soft tannin and a lingering finish.  Overall, an impeccable Shiraz that should be bought if found on these American shores.  Once again, one usually has to visit the auction houses to find this wine.
