This was my first exposure to Swanson Vineyards, and I toroughly enjoyed the wine.  Produced from their own estate vineyards in Oakville (Napa County), the wine is primarily cabernet sauvignon, but blended with merlot, syrah, and perhaps trace amounts of other varietals.  The wine has plenty of black fruit on the nose and palate, but an interesting melted chocolate note lingers in the background.  Tannins are firm, but not intrusive.

3.75 stars.  Purchased at the Harvest Ranch Market in Encinitas, about $50.00
