Roar Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2004

Roar is one of my favorite producers of central Californian Pinot Noir.  They produce a variety of single vineyard Pinots (Gary's Vineyard, Rosella's Vineyard, etc.), but they also produce this blend from multiple vineyards within the Santa Lucia Highlands area.  Several people with whom I have tasted wines prefer this blend to the very fine single vineyard pinots from Roar, but I find the single vineyard offerings a little better, at least for the 2004 vintage.  This wine has all the tell tale earthy, smokey scents that are characteristic of this vintage, with abundant spicy red fruit on the palate.
