James Laube from Wine Spectator was much too harsh on this wine in his review, stating negatively "the wine tastes better than it smells", and gave it a paultry 83 point score.  He must have had an "off bottle", as the 2002 Peju cab that I had demonstrated a lovely blackberry and mocha bouquet, with slight earthy nuances.  There is plenty of fruit on the palate, but the wine is not made in the "fruit bomb" ultra-jammy style that many critics seem to enjoy these days.  The wine is a classic California cab, made in a more tradtional manner.  I found the wine to be well balanced, and enjoyed it immensely.  The wine was purchased at the Harvest Ranch Market in the 15th Street Shopping plaza in olde Del Mar for about $33 dollars.  Full retail is $40.00.

3.75 stars.
