This wine would be a serious contender for wine of the month if it were more widely available.  I have never seen it at local retailers, and it is not found on Beringer's on-line shopping site.  I believe it is only available at the winery, and through mail order to Beringer's wine club members.  This kind of quality makes me seriously consider becoming a Beringer wine club member.

The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena Home Vineyard from Beringer comes in an attractively prepared bottle, but the juice inside is what carries the day.  The bouquet was more Bordeaux-like than Napa like, with some great smokey, toasty, earthy aromas surrounding a core of multi-layered black fruit.  The finish doesn't stop.  The wine is drinking wonderfully, but I think it will continue to improve over the next few years.  Those who are sitting on this wine should keep their bottles cellared if they have only a small inventory.  This will be difficult given the immense drinking pleasure that the wine affords right now.
