La Fleur de Gay (Bordeaux, Pomerol); 1998

I am ordinarily a big fan of Pomerol wines, and I have enjoyed many fine vintages from La Fleur de Gay.  I was disappointed with the bottle of 1998 that I opened this weekend.  I'm not sure whether it was an individual bottle problem, or a problem with the entire 1998 offering.  Judging from the scores that others have given this wine, I suspect I just got a bad bottle.

The bouquet had an off odor reminiscent of Brett, although a little different.  It also seemed like there was a hint of TCA corkiness.  The wine tasted fine, so I suspect that TCA was not the main culprit here.

It's hard for me to score this wine since the bottle seemed flawed.  If I had to give a score, it would be 3 stars.  I will update the posting when I open another bottle, as I have 3 in my cellar.
