Le Bon Pasteur 1995 (Bordeaux; Pomerol)

Print the article

This entry was posted on 7/31/2006 8:20 PM and is filed under French Bourdeaux.

This wine, like most wine from Pomerol, is primarily merlot, with up to 20% (or so) cabernet franc.  The wine has reached full maturity and will not benefit from further ageing.

The primary note in the bouquet was smoke, almost overpowering at first.  With 30 minutes of decanting, the smokey nose started to subside, and fruit started to emerge.  The wine was entirely pleasant, with a soft finish and little tannin left.

3.5 stars, but allow ample time for decanting.

Great line about the mustard!  I agree with your assesment of Bon Pasteur.  Have you had any of the more recent vintages?  It seems like when prices were skyrocketing across Bordeaux, you could still get Bon Pasteur 2000 vintage for a reasonable price.  Welcome to the blog!

I did check out your website, and I liked it.  Job well done.  Here's a free plug for you.  Readers, check out an interesting wine web site  http://www.oovas.com
