Holy Smoke.  This is great juice.  The amazing thing is that this is the first year of production for Match Vineyards.  This is the most excited I have been about a new wine since the Owl Ridge Brigden Vineyard cab that I reviewed about 6 months ago.

The 2002 Butterdragon Hill Cabernet from Match has a great bouquet that brings in dark chocolate and espresso tones on top of the usual black fruit aromas that characterize good Napa cabs.  The wine has a lot of fruit on the palate and is immediately drinkable.  It is quite long on the palate and has an elegant finish.  I will definitely be purchasing the 2003 version of this wine as well.

My only regret is that I reviewed it after I had already named this month's wine of the month.  I might just have to break the rule and crown two different wines as "wine of the month for July"!

Outstanding; 4 stars.  It can be purchased on line at the winery's website www.matchvineyards.com  Ask your local retailer to start stocking this gem.  Get on board before the rest of the crowd hears about this one.

VinoCritic. Good call on the Match Vineyards. Now hush up before you turn everyone else onto this wine.
