Sea Smoke "Southing" Pinot Noir 2004 (Santa Rita Hills; Santa Barbara County)

This entry was posted on 7/1/2006 11:40 AM and is filed under California and Oregon Pinot Noir.

A thoroughly enjoyable wine from this increasingly popular Santa Barbara producer.  At 14.7% alcohol, this wine drinks a little hot for a Pinot, but those who like higher alcohol wines will like it.  The wine has an elegant red fruit and floral bouquet, plenty of red fruit on the palate and a long finish.  It does not have the heavy earthy aromas of the Santa Lucia Highland Pinots, and represents a more classic representation of this varietal.
