I picked up this wine at Costco for 18 dollars.  I was not expecting much, as most of the J. Lohr regular bottlings that I have had in the past were fairly mass-produced middle of the road offerings.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Lohr 2001 Hilltop Cabernet.  It could easily compete with wines costing twice the price.  A pleasant bouquet and well integrated tannin with robust fruit and a medium finish.  I will look at this producer's top end offerings differently in the future.
