This was a very elegant, fully mature beautiful expression of Bordeaux.  In Robert Parker's book, he mentions that this wine can last for another 20 years.  From my tasting this weekend, I disagree.  The bottle I had was starting to lose it's fruit ever so slighltly.  I did not by the bottle on release, and bought it on the secondary market from K and L winery a few years ago.  It is certainly possible that the bottle may have been stored for a period of time at warm temperatures, which will accelerate maturity.

In any event, both myself and the esteemed Professor Lofstrom from the University of Texas found this to be a delightfulful wine.  The wine had a black fruit/red fruit/ wet earth/tobacco leaf bouquet.  There was still plenty of plummy fruit on the palate, but it was starting to fade just a bit.  The finish was long, smooth, and elegant.  The tannins were soft and well integrated.

4 stars, but drink up now, especially if you are not sure of the provenance of your bottle.
