Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 (Napa Valey)

Readers of this site know that I have always enjoyed the Heitz cabernets.  1998 was a slightly mediocre vintage for California, but was not as bad as many have made it out to be.  One still sees occasional 1998 cabs in the marketplace, and if cared for properly these can be excellent values.  Most are at full maturity.  The 1998 Heitz cab was enjoyed in June 2006 paired with a New York steak.  It really drank quite beautifully.  The wine was not too far off the mark compared to adjacent vintages 1997 and 1999, which of course, were amongst the best for Napa in the  90's.
