Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna South Australia Shiraz 2002

This is a textbook example of a decent "entry level" Autralian Shiraz.  It's much better than much of the cheap plonk hitting our shores, but it does not have the stuffing to compete with the premium Aussie Shiraz wines.

The wine has a medium ruby red color, a pleasant but soft bouquet of raspberry, spice, and pepper.  On the palate, it is a fruit forward, ripe black and red fruit laden wine.  There is a little acidity on the finish, giving it a little tartness.  A pleasant, albeit not extraordinary example of Australian Shiraz.

This wine retails for a little over 20 dollars.  It can frequently be found for less at discount stores.  I paid about 45 dollars for it at Flemings Prime Steak House by UTC.
