This is a very, very good California cab.  The retail price is $38, but I purchased it at the San Diego Wine Company for the outstanding price of $26.95.  For the price, it represents tremendous value.  The wine is not as complex as the 2003 Owl Ridge Brigden Vineyard cabernet, but it is also not as expensive.  This wine, which is a 2004 vintage, drinks amazingly well right now for such a young cab.  It has nice purple color, good extraction, a lovely black fruit bouquet, moderate well integrated tannin, and a smooth finish.  I suspect it will hit it's peak in about 1-2 years.  It is a very precocious wine, and does not need extended cellaring.  I consumed the wine with a braised lamb shank, and the pair was delightful.

I think this winery has a bright future ahead of it.

Sorry to take so long to reply. I think your review is right on. Our winemaker Joe Otos called this one exactly right. Longer time in barrel would have diminished the great fruit in this wine. By the way, I would suggest trying the 2003 Cab - T.R. Passalacqua Vineyard. It has now won 5 gold medals, including the one last Saturday at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. It is the third leg of our high end Cabs.
