Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand, Marlborough)

This entry was posted on 3/29/2006 9:57 PM and is filed under New Zealand wines, good value wines, sauvignon blanc.

This wine is available at many supermarkets.  It usually sells for 10 dollars or less.  It is a nice example of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.  This will be a nice summer wine, and for the price, you can't beat it for outdoor picnics and the like.

The wine is typical New Zealand Sauv Blanc.  Pale gold color with greenish tints.  Lemony, grassy bouquet.  Fresh citrus/grapefruit on the palate.  Crisp and lively, with a little tart acidity and a smooth finish.  Nicely done for under 10 bucks.

I agree that a lot of the wines coming from Australia, New Zeland, and South Africa have had silly marketing ploys.  It does seem to be generating sales, though, and Napa has come on board with some pretty ridiculous labels lately as well.

As for the leopard skin thong, I can assure you I would not be wearing one to a party.  But if an attractive woman was wearing one, I must just sneak a peek...............
