I hate trying to figure out  Burgundy.  Too hard to remember the communes, vineyards, negociants, estates and so forth.  Santenay is the southern-most commune in Burgundy, and Les Gravieres is a premier cru vineyard.  Santenay is known for their red wines, despite their southerly location.  The reds here tend to be somewhat light, and are designed for early drinking.

This wine had a medium ruby color and a nice bouquet of fresh flowers, cherries, and strawberry.  With a little decanting, it took on some smoky aromas too.  The wine was medium bodied, fresh. lively, delicate, with a smooth finish.  A delightful medium-bodied red Burgundy.  The best part, I got it for 12 bucks at an auction.
