My brother in law, the esteemed Professor Lofstrom from Dallas,  turned me on to this St. Emilion Grand Cru chateau.   I was previously unaware of this very good wine producer.  The 2000 Bordeaux from Destieux has matured early and is ready to drink.  It has a medium dark ruby color, and a beautiful bouquet of smoke, black fruit, and spice.  The high percentage of merlot in the blend gives it a very smooth feel on the tongue, and it finishes easily, but lasts a  long time on the back of the palate.  A thoroughly delightful wine.  This would serve as an excellent introduction to right bank Bordeaux for those who want to sample something near its peak of maturity without breaking the bank.  I have seen the 2000 vintage of this wine retailing for anywhere from the mid 20's to about 40 dollars, with most prices at about 30 bucks.  The more recent vintages are less expensive, but the 2000 is worth the extra investment.

Just a tad shy of 4 stars.  Thanks, Professor.  Thanks also to my sister, who is also an esteemed Professor from Dallas, who helped pick out this wine.
