Plumpjack Napa Valley Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Year in and year out, Plumpjack continues to deliver a quintessential Oakville style cabernet sauvignon.  The wines have gone up in price, and usually sell near the full retail price of around 60 dollars for the new vintages (2002).  They also make a highly regarded reserve which I have not tried.  The regular Plumpjack cab has a dark saturated purple color, almost black.  Black currants and cassis fill the nose.  The tannins on these wines tends to be fairly supple.  The wines are always highly extracted.  The finish is superb.  I have tried several vintages of Plumpjack cabernet and have never been disappointed.  4 stars.
