Chateau Montelena 2002 Napa Valley Estate Zinfandel

This zinfandel was good, but seemed to be overwhelmed by spicy pepper aromas and flavors.  There was also a lot of raspberry and tangy red fruit on the palate.  Overall, good but not extraordinary.  Zin lovers will find it attractive.  Those accostomed to Bordeaux varietals may not enjoy the heavy spice.  3 stars.
