Although the price of this wine has been creeping up in recent years, it still represents a decent value for a good reserve wine.  The older vintages can often times be found at local retailersfor good prices compared to other aged mature California reserves.  I particularly liked the 1997, 1999, and 2001 Simi reserves, all of which deliver everything you would hope for in a top flight California cab.. Gobs of jammy fruit, a hint of spicy pepper, toasty oak, and wild game.  You will never be disappointed with the Simi reserves if you like big California cabs that achieve elegance with aging.  4 stars for all 3 vintages.
